The John Boehner for Speaker campaign is a special project of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). Boehner for Speaker's purpose is to help elect a new Republican Majority in Congress by contrasting our agenda of reform with the liberal, jobs-killing agenda of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats running for Congress as part of her team.
On January 4, 2011, newly elected lawmakers - all 435 who win their elections this November - will choose their Speaker for the next Congress. With that vote, the tone and direction of Congress for at least the next two years will be determined. We want Americans to know what's at stake.
If Republicans win a majority of seats in the November election, then a Republican - John Boehner of Ohio - will be elected to Speaker of the House. If Democrats maintain their majority in the House, then Nancy Pelosi will win a third term as Speaker of the House.
That is why our campaign is working to make it clear to every voter in America that a vote for a Democrat congressional candidate - any one of them, regardless of what district they are from - is a vote to re-elect Nancy Pelosi as Speaker. Every vote for a Democrat running for Congress is a proxy vote for Nancy Pelosi, and every vote for a Republican running for Congress is a vote for John Boehner - a former small businessman who knows what it takes to cut spending and create new jobs - to replace her as Speaker.
Support provided to the NRCC through Boehner for Speaker will be used to assist the campaigns of Republican nominees for Congress with the exclusive goal of electing a Republican Majority in the United States House of Representatives in 2010.
Our goal is clear. We need to win 40 seats to end the reign of Nancy Pelosi and elect John Boehner as the new Speaker of the House. Here is how we are going to do it.
Currently, we have 100 top-tier candidates who are running in targeted pick-up seats throughout the country. Through the Boehner for Speaker project, we will ensure that each of these candidates has the resources they need to run successful campaigns.
We will also run ads in targeted congressional districts that will expose every single Democrat incumbent for rubber-stamping the radical, jobs-killing Pelosi-Obama agenda of more spending, more taxing, and more government.
